Celebrity portraits may not be what I typically do, but I was more than honored to do this commission of George Clooney, as he’s a man whose artistry I greatly respect (especially in regards to films he’s directed himself). Face is made up of key scenes from (or symbolic references to) his vast filmography (it helps that I know the films so well), in the same vein of the Walter Hill portrait I did a few years back for the forthcoming book by Walter Chaw, which was the first time I’d experimented with this approach.
