Created for ICWA’s symposium The Politics of Art in the Middle East, this poster explores the tension between creative practice and political force by juxtaposing the artist and their tools with the outline of a soldier’s silhouette. The design positions artistic work as active and urgent, highlighting how acts of creation, documentation, and expression can be conflated as tools of war in contexts fearful of free expression. A minimal two-color palette keeps the composition bold and immediate, allowing the symbolic contrast between art and power to take center stage.

Ganzeer also had the honor of speaking at the symposium together with Yasmine El Rashidi, Rozina Ali, Maymanah Farahat, Ali Abdel Mohsen, and moderated by Jonathan Guyer who was responsible for bringing us all together.
