According to Islam (and most other “pious” religions”), pornography is a sin. Not just that, but even realistic depictions of people and the world in which they inhabit is rather frowned upon, seen by conservatives as some sort of competition with God. While this belief may have resulted in the suffering of some art forms, it alternatively lead to an unprecedented mastery in forms of abstraction. Namely calligraphy and geometry.

With this perspective in mind, Halal Pornography is a series of graphic illustrations depicting acts of sexuality using abstract, geometric forms. By so doing they arguably become unsinful, or rather: “Halal”.
